The daycare provides age-appropriate toys, furniture, and learning materials. Children's personal belongings have designated storage areas. Safety precautions include a child safety gate surrounding the off-limits area, safety covers on electrical outlets and stove knobs, and child safety locks on all cabinets accessible to children.
S3 confirmed there are no firearms or weapons on the premises.
The backyard is surrounded by a fence and free of debris. Outdoor play equipment is available for children to use and is in good condition. LPA did not find any pools, spas, or other bodies of water on the property.
The facility provides lunch and snacks for its children. S3 reported that none of the children require prescribed medications.
The facility provides cribs for the infants to nap in and cots for pre-k children to nap on. LPA observed that sheets and blankets were available for the children. Infant mattresses are firm and equipped with appropriately sized sheets. All cribs are well-maintained and free of loose items that could pose safety risks. The facility requires parents to supply blankets and sheets for their children. These items must be laundered weekly.
A childcare roster was made available for LPA's review. LPA confirmed that childcare insurance is up to date. A review of five children’s files showed that all records were complete. This included emergency contact information and immunization records. Infant sleep logs for napping infants, which include the time and person checking on the infants, were reviewed and found to be completed.
A review of the three staff files (S1, S2, and S3) showed that their Pediatric First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter Training certificates are current.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
