25 | On 2/13/2023 at 9:10AM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luis J. Gomez met with Co-director, Christina Marchiel. Purpose of the inspection was explained and was for an unannounced; Annual/ Random inspection. Facility's operates a Parent-Cooperative preschool program. Present were both co-directors and 22 staff/ parents supervising 53 children. Facility operating within the required staff-child ratio. Children present have been properly signed in. Staff have criminal record clearances on file. Program operates out of five classrooms: (Room 1-2) Marquitas, 2-3 years old; (Room 3) Mariposas, 3-6 years old; (Room 4) Conejitos, 3-6 years old; (Room 6) Gatitos, 3-6 years old; (Room 5) Ranitas, 3-6 years old, and several shared, outdoor play areas, located on upper and lower levels. Outdoor space waiver was observed posted in main office. Hours of operation are Monday- Thursday 8:30am- 4:00pm. Program operates year around. LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards.
At 9:30AM., LPA observed the following: Classrooms were clean and orderly, with a variety of age-appropriate plaything available for the children. Floors and ground surfaces were free of obstructions. Classrooms are equipped with labeled cubbies for storage of child’s belongings. Books and materials were in good repair, and free of sharp corners or splinters. Classrooms had child sized tables and chairs for lunch and seated activities. Children’s bathrooms, located in each classroom, had adequate supplies for hand washing. Fixtures in children's bathrooms were in operating condition. Diaper changing table is available, Per co-director, changing table is disinfected after each use. Staff bathroom is located separately. For napping services, program provides padded mats for each child and sleeping bags. Per director, napping supplies are taken home weekly by families to be washed. Classrooms had acceptable ventilation and lighting. Toxins, detergents, cleaning supplies and are stored inaccessible to children. Classrooms have smoke detector/ carbon monoxide combination detector (Built-in), telephone service, and fully charged fire extinguishers located in classrooms. First aid kit was fully stocked.
At 10:15AM., LPA inspected the outdoor play areas. Outdoor play areas were enclosed with tall fencing. Outdoor space was observed free of debris or hazardous plants. Equipment inspected were in good repair and climbable items were properly anchored. Water services are provided with pitchers and refillable cups (REFER TO 809-C FOR CONT.)
