25 | On March 06, 2025, at approximately 8.30am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tso made an unannounced required visit to the child care center listed above. The LPA was granted entry by the Enrollment Specialist, Frances Santa Maria-Afuang. The Site Supervisor, Gwendolyn “GiGi” Ramos (facility representative) was not at the facility (arrived at 9.19am). The facility representative was informed of the reason for today's visit by the LPA. Present in the center included Site Supervisor, 10 staff members and 51 (39 preschool-aged children and 12 toddlers). All individuals listed on the facility’s roster have been granted permission to work or be present in a childcare center. The center is operating within its capacity and in accordance with the required ratio of staff to children. Hours of operation are Monday- Friday, 7:45 am- 5:45 pm. The center has three classrooms: Piper Peeps (#113, toddler classroom), Whale Calves (#119, Preschool classroom), and Fox Cubs (#123, Preschool classroom).
LPA assessed the Center for Health and Safety Hazards with the facility representative. The Center also maintains 3 carbon monoxide detectors, (tested under working conditions during the visit), centralized smoke alarm, fully charged fire extinguisher (3A40BC), and First Aid kit. The diaper changing table has at least 1" thick padding, and has at least 3" elevated edges. The changing tables are within arm's reach of the sink. The Center also provided age-appropriate toys, furnishings, changing tables, and equipment. Designated cubbies are available for children to store their belongings. There is sufficient sleeping equipment and cots for each child, and all mats and bedding are kept in the appropriate location. The facility maintains a record of sign-in/out for children, and all parent signatures were accounted for and matched the number of children present. The children’s classroom environment appeared clean and organized, with appropriate heating, lighting, and ventilation. LPA did not observe any pools, spas, or other bodies of water, nor did they notice any bouncers, exersaucers, or similar equipment at the facility. According to the facility representative, no firearms or weapons are present at the Center, and all cleaning materials and potentially hazardous objects are kept out of reach of children. Personnel restrooms are separate from the children, and all solid waste storage containers have tightly fitted lids. Per the Site supervisor, the meals were delivered by the vendor in every morning. LPA also observed that the food preparation site is clean, organized, and inaccessible to children. (Continued on page 2...) |
