The home was equipped with a fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit, and a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector. The bathroom was clean and contained age-appropriate toileting equipment. The licensee confirmed that no firearms or weapons are stored on the premises.
No pools, spas, or other bodies of water were observed on the premises
The facility provides food for the children, including lunch and two snacks. Reusable plates, utensils, and cups are used and washed by hand.
The home was equipped with playpens designated for children’s naps. All sleep equipment appeared to be in good condition. The licensee stated that the facility provides sheets, which are laundered weekly.
LPA reviewed four children’s files and found them to be complete, including all required licensing forms, immunization records, and sleep logs. The licensee provided a receipt showing that her child care insurance is paid and current; however, she was unable to provide updated documentation indicating the policy dates. The licensee stated she will email the updated documents to LPA Leong once she contacts the insurance provider.
The licensee’s file was reviewed and found to include current certifications in Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter Training.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for and removing any recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
