25 | On June 26, 2023 at 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Cowan met with director, Mercedes Uriarte, for a 1 Year Required Inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained. Present, in the facility is director, 8 staff, and 13 children in care. Facility is operating within its capacity, and facility is in compliance with staff / child ratio on this day. Facility operates day care Monday to Friday from 08:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Facility operates from three classrooms. Rm 1 for infants, Rm 3 and 4 for toddlers.
LPA inspected the infant day care area for health and safety hazards today. LPA observed facility has working smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detector, 2 fully charged fire extinguishers, and working telephone on site. The center is clean, orderly and in good repair. There are no pools, spas or other similar bodies of water on site. Cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to the children. All furniture and equipment are clean and in good working condition. The center's furniture and equipment are age appropriate. There is a sufficient quantity of cribs, table/chairs and changing tables meet the capacity. Facility cleans bedding for infants and toddlers. Cribs and mats are wiped down and disinfected daily. Facility provides food and formula for children. Changing tables are within an arm’s reach of a sink. LPA observed infants were supervised by staff in the classrooms. All solid waste storage containers have secure lids. The outdoor play area designated for the infants and toddlers was clean and in good repair. All toys and equipment are in working condition. Play yard is free of hazards. There is a sufficient amount of poured rubber to help absorb the impact of falls.
At 10:30 AM, facility files were reviewed. Staff files were reviewed. All staff have criminal record clearances on file. Education units are on file for teaching staff. At least one staff member on site has current CPR/First Aid certification. Children's files were reviewed. Children's files were complete with required Licensing documents. LPA discussed facility associations with director. All required postings are posted and facility information on file is current.
