25 | On January 24, 2024 at approximately 8:30am, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Catrina Quimbo and Janet Gil conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPAs met with licensee, Joy Ryan, and explained the purpose of the inspection. Present during LPAs' visit included 12 preschool children and 2 assistants. Licensee is a large license and is operating within capacity limits and ratio.
Licensee lives in the multi-level home with their two minor children. All adults living and/or working in the home have fingerprint clearance on file. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday 8:30am to 5:30pm and Fridays, 8:30am to 4:30pm.
The home consists of two levels. Day care areas of the home are on the first level of the home only. The DAY CARE AREAS includes living room (preschool room #1), dining room (preschool room #2), hallway bathroom, art room, and backyard area. The OFF-LIMITS AREAS are the kitchen, family room (located on first level of home), and entire second level of home. Off limit areas are appropriately barricaded with child safety gates and/or furniture. There are stairs in the home and in the backyard area that have child safety gates.
LPAs toured day care areas of home with licensee. LPAs observed home to be in good repair with proper temperature and ventilation. Home is equipped with a variety of toys and materials that were observed to be in good working condition. LPAs did not observe any accessible cleaning supplies, poisons, and solutions in day care areas. The living room includes a fireplace that is properly barricaded and made inaccessible. LPAs observed electrical outlets to be made inaccessible with child safety covers. Home is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher and multiple dual smoke/carbon monoxide detectors. LPA tested detector in preschool room #1, which was observed to be working. LPAs did not observe any hazardous materials in accessible drawers. Windows in preschool rooms were observed to have safety screens and/or safety locks installed.
Bathroom for children's use was observed to be in proper working condition. LPAs observed bathroom to include appropriate toileting equipment and sanitation products. LPAs did not observe any hazardous materials to be accessible to children in bathroom. Sinks accessible to children do not provide hot water.
