25 | On November 1, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Van met the lead teacher, Julie Atkins, for an unannounced Plan of Correction (POC) inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained, and entrance to the center was granted. Ten teachers (3 qualified infant teachers and 7 assistants) supervised 19 children (nine infants and ten toddlers’ component age-children). The Director/owner, Laura Wong, and the new Director, Rebecca Lau, arrived during the visit.
During the annual inspection on October 9, 2024, it was noted that the Center had not consistently documented the 15-minute incremental checks for infant sleeping logs, resulting in a violation. However, during this inspection, a review of random infant sleeping logs showed that the center maintains accurate records with consistent 15-minute checks. Additionally, the staff members responsible for these checks have included their initials. Consequently, the deficiency cited on October 9, 2024, has been resolved.
LPA reviewed and informed the Director/Owner and the new Director again of the importance of having a substitute director or designee when they are not on site. It is essential for the Center to have a qualified teacher available to step in as the substitute director during the Director's absence. This substitute director should be well-informed about their role and familiar with the center's operations.
