25 | On 2/27/2023 at 8:40AM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luis J. Gomez met with Director, Sophia Adler. Purpose of the inspection was explained and was for an unannounced; Annual/ Random inspection. Facility is licensed to operate preschool-age program. Present was the directors, and three staff supervising 11 children. Children present have been properly signed in. Staff have criminal record clearances on file. Preschool program operates year-round in one classroom, Sea Turtles; and one, shared outdoor play yard. Play yard schedule was reviewed during inspection. Days and hours of operation are Monday- Friday 7:30am- 5:30pm. Facility was inspected, indoors and outdoors, with director for health and safety hazards
At 9:00AM., LPA observed the following: Classroom was clean, orderly, with age-appropriate plaything and materials available to the children. Floors and ground surfaces were free of any obstructions leading to the exits. Labeled storage cubbies are located in classroom for child’s belongings. Classroom has several zones including the: dramatic play, reading carpet, and dining area. Accessible supplies and furniture inspected were free of any sharp corners or splinters. Classroom was equipped with child sized tables and chairs. Children’s bathroom was maintained clean and in operating condition. Diaper changing table is available. Per director, changing table is disinfected after each use. Staff bathroom is located separately. For napping services, program provides labeled cots for each child. Per director, napping supplies are washed weekly on-site. Classroom have acceptable ventilation and lighting. Toxins, detergents, cleaning supplies and are stored inaccessible to children on high shelf. Classroom has built-in smoke detectors, functioning carbon monoxide detector, telephone service, and fully charged fire extinguishers (2A:10BC). First aid kit was fully stocked.
At 9:35AM., LPA inspected the outdoor play area. Outdoor play areas were enclosed with tall fencing. Outdoor space was observed free of debris or hazardous plants. Per director, for water services, large pitchers and cups are provided inside and outside. Accessible shading is available the children.
