The home has a combination carbon monoxide and smoke detector and a fully charged fire extinguisher, with a minimum standard of 2A 10 BC. Cleaning supplies and disinfectants are stored out of children's reach. The licensee stated the home does not have any firearms or weapons. LPA observed no baby walkers, bouncers, or comparable items in the childcare areas. The licensee was reminded that smoking is prohibited in the family childcare home.
LPA observed a crib. The crib was found to be free of blanket or pillow. The mattress fit the dimensions of the crib, and the sheet fit snugly. According to the licensee, the youngest infant sleeps in the crib, and the two older infants sleep on mats. The sleeping logs for the infants were reviewed. Overall, the licensee maintained the logs properly, including the infants' names and checks in fifteen-minute increments. However, there were inconsistencies with the dates. The licensee mentioned that some infants did not sleep during nap time. It is recommended that the licensee document this in the log, noting specifically when an infant did not sleep on a given day. LPA reminded the licensee that sleeping sacks are prohibited.
During the visit, LPA reviewed the records for both children and personnel. The licensee keeps accurate records for each child, including vaccination records, parental rights forms, and complete emergency information. The licensee has maintained records of all essential licensing requirements, such as necessary immunizations, valid Pediatric First Aid CPR certifications, and mandated reporter training certificates. The Licensee has valid childcare liability insurance on file.
All the required licensing postings were observed posted. According to the licensee, regular fire and earthquake drills are conducted at least once every six months, with the most recent drills completed on 11/12/2024.
