Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an unannounced case management inspection for the capacity increase. LPA met with the licensee, Carolina Oliveira, and her husband, and explained the purpose of the inspection to them. All adults have fingerprint clearance. There were 4 children including 2 infants present. The licensee applied for the capacity increase on 4/25/24. The licensee wanted to add a living room and a backyard to the existing daycare areas as well. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The facility was cleaned and in order, temperature and lighting were adequate, and toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. The licensee installed the soft cushioning to the entire floor in the main playroom in the back. The licensee installed the gate at the stairways, hallway entrance between the living room and the main playroom in the back, and entrance of the kitchen. The licensee covered all the electrical outlets and sharp corners. The licensee also installed childproof knobs on the main and bedroom doors to prevent children from accessing the off-limit areas. The facility had a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, a working cellular phone, at least one working 2in1 carbon monoxide and smoke detector, and first aid supplies available. The facility had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repaired. The children's bathroom was clean and in order. The lower bathroom sink cabinet was free of harmful objects. The outdoor play area was completely fenced. The licensee installed the gates at the pathway from the main daycare area to the backyard. The outdoor play yard was in 2 sections. One of the sections was located in the concrete area that close to the building(Lower play yard). Per the licensee, she wants to put the water tables and sandbox there. Another section of the play yard was fenced and located on the higher level. The licensee built the fenced play yard with thick turf to the entire ground and slide structures and other outdoor toys on it.

The daycare areas will be a family room (Playroom) a bathroom #2, a living room, and a backyard. The off-limit areas will be a kitchen, a dining room, Bedroom #1 and bathroom #1 on the second level, the entire 3rd level including bedrooms #3 and #4 (master bedroom with an adjacent bathroom), a deck, and a garage.

The following items must be completed before licensure:

  • install window locks to the windows to limit the windows to be opened up to 4 inches in the living room.
  • install a gate at the stairway to the deck that is across the playyard.
  • install the color tape to the steps at the fenced play yard.
  • cover the metal cap of the pipe at the lower play yard
  • Fire Clearance approval.
