LPA observed that a childproof lock in the Bathroom cabinet was broken. LPA advised that Licensee replace the lock immediately. Licensee stated that they understood.
LPA discussed safe sleep regulations with Licensee. Sleep sacks are not to be used in a Family Child Care Home, as they are considered to be swaddling devices. Infants are to be moved to a crib once they have fallen asleep. Objects are not to be placed on top of, or on the side of, cribs that are used by sleeping infants.
There is no outdoor play area in the home. Per Licensee, children are taken on walks to McLaren Park about once a week, which is approximately 10 minutes walking distance from the facility. Licensee stated that parents are notified when children leave the facility to go to the park. There are no pools or other similar bodies of water present in the home. Per Licensee, there are no firearms or weapons in the home.
LPA reviewed Licensee’s file, three children’s files, and facility records. Licensee’s Pediatric First Aid/CPR training expires 9/2025. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter training expires 10/1/2026. Licensee’s immunizations are available for review. LPA observed all children’s files to be complete. LPA reviewed required postings with Licensee during the visit. LPA advised that emergency drills must be completed at least once every six months. Drills must be documented and logged. Licensee stated that they understood.
