The facility provides two snacks and lunch for the preschool program. Menus were posted on the bulletin board for review. Drinking water is accessible through personal water bottles, which can be refilled as needed at the kitchen sink with a filter. If a child forgets to bring a water bottle, the facility offers stainless steel cups to ensure continued access to drinking water.
The facility required parents of the infants to bring their own food. Lunch boxes and baby bottles were observed in the refrigerator. LPA observed that a few bottles in the fridge were unlabeled with the child's name and date, resulting in a technical violation. LPA reminded the facility that bottles must be labeled with names and dates.
One infant required an EpiPen, and it was found to be current and in its original packaging. The EpiPen was stored in a cabinet inaccessible to the children.
The children's restrooms designated for the preschool program were observed to be in working condition and equipped with age-appropriate toileting and hand-washing materials. One of the infant rooms was observed to have a diaper-changing table within arm's reach of a sink. The parents provide diapers, and the facility has extra diapers in case a child runs out.
The preschool and infant program nap in their own designated nap area. LPA observed preschool children sleeping on mats and infants sleeping either on mats or in cribs, depending on their age. All sleep equipment appeared in good condition. The parents provide sheets that are laundered weekly, and cots are sanitized weekly or as needed by the facility.
A child (C1) was observed sleeping in a crib with a loose item, a pacifier, inside the crib, resulting in a technical violation. A second child (C2) was observed wearing gloves on both hands while sleeping, resulting in a technical violation. Both the pacifier and gloves were observed to be removed from the children. LPA reminded that loose items shall not be left in the crib while children are sleeping.
Both the infant and preschool programs utilize an electronic sign-in/out system. LPA observed that children were present and signed in during the inspection. Each authorized individual has a unique code for sign-in/out access.
LPA reviewed ten randomly selected children's records and found them to be complete, including emergency contact information. Infant sleep logs, which indicate that the facility checks on infants while they are asleep, were reviewed, and it was found that some staff checked on infants after 15 minutes, which is not allowed and results in a technical violation. The facility was reminded that sleep checks must be completed and documented within the fifteen-minute window. Five staff files were reviewed and found to include current Pediatric CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter Training certifications. All five met the required education requirements for either the infant or preschool program.
