25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Mok conducted an announced Prelicensing Inspection. LPA met with the licensee, Nancy Zhang, and her brother who was helping her fix the house during the inspection. The licensee applied for relocation from her previous facility (#384002287) from Chinatown to a new location on 5/14/2024. Per the licensee, she just moved into this location on 6/2/2024. The licensee rents and lives with her daughter who studies at the CA University in this apartment unit that has 2 bedrooms, a sunroom, and a half bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and a dining room. The daycare areas are a living room, a dining room, and one and a half bathrooms. The off-limit areas are bedrooms #1& #2, a sunroom, a kitchen, and a backyard. Per the licensee, she wants to add a backyard to the daycare areas when ready. LPA inspected the apartment for health and safety hazards. The facility was clean, the temperature and lighting were adequate, and the toxins and harmful objects were made inaccessible to the children. There was a fully charged 2A10BC Fire Extinguisher, a working 2in1 smoke and carbon monoxide detector, a working cellular phone, and first aid supplies available. There were plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning materials and equipment, and children's furniture that were in good condition and repair. Cribs and cots were available for napping. The fireplace was barricaded. The licensee installed the childproof knobs to the windows that limited the window to be opened up to 4 inches in the living and dining rooms. The licensee covered all the electrical outlets and sharp corners. The licensee also installed gates at the entrance of the kitchen, living room, and dining room. The children's bathroom was clean and the lower sink cabinet was latched. The licensee has some cubbies for the children to store their belongings in the dining room.
The following items must be completed before licensure:
- organize toys and other daycare items in the living and dining room.
- remove the plastic wrap from the cabinet in the living room and a piano in the hallway.
- installed child proof knobs to the bedroom doors (#1 & #2)
This report and notice of the site visit were discussed with the licensee. They must be made available to the public upon request. For quarterly updates on Licensing information, go to the CCL website: www.ccld.ca.gov. For Provider Information Notice: ccld.ca.gov/PG5098.htm.
