25 | Centralized Application Bureau (CAB) Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jamel Maiwandi met with President Sunil Wijesinghe for the purpose of an announced pre-licensing inspection at 1187 Franklin Street San Francisco, CA 94109 on 12/18/2024 at approximately 10:30am. Applicant initially requested the addition of 15 toddler children from ages 18 to 36 months, however after indoor measurements were taken, applicant has decided to change capacity to 42 toddler children. The program will operate Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. LPA reviewed with applicant the LIC 311A, Records To Be Maintained At The Facility, for child’s records, personnel records, administrative records, and documents to be posted.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are five preschool classrooms (A,B,C,D,E) located at the facility, and two staff restrooms, one located upstairs next to the preschool classrooms and one located downstairs in the main office area. Applicant stated they will be changing preschool classrooms A and B located on the second floor to toddler classrooms, LPA informed applicant fire clearance will be needed to allow toddlers on second floor. The isolation area for sick children will be in located in the main office. The facility will not be providing food services and instead will be provided by parents, the food preparation area will be used to store meals and snacks only and will be inaccessible to children. Storage areas will be located in each classroom and staff was reminded that all storage areas shall be kept clean and free of litter and rubbish, and measures shall be taken to keep all such areas free of rodents and other vermin. LPA measured the classrooms which includes a total of 3,046.56 square feet and will not accommodate the applicants request for 15 toddler children and 95 preschool children. New indoor measurements taken will allow for 42 toddler children in classrooms A and B and 44 preschool children in classrooms C, D, E. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, chairs, napping mats, and cubbies in each room. There are first aid kits located in each classroom and the main office as well.
