25 | On January 10, 2025 @ approx. 8:40 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon, conducted an announced, pre-licensing inspection visit. LPA met with Kimberly Fuentes Paredes and explained the purpose of the inspection. Applicant submitted a small childcare home application to our department on November 12, 2024. Hours of operation will be Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Applicant plans to provide care to children ages 0 months to 5 yrs. old. Applicant lives in apartment with spouse and one minor child. Present during today’s visit was applicant and applicant’s mom. All adults living in home have criminal background clearance.
With applicant, LPA inspected the indoors of the home for health and safety hazards. Applicant rents apartment that consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen, two small hallways, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and outdoor patio. The DAY CARE AREAS: are the living room (playroom), bedroom #2, bathroom #2, both hallways. The OFF-LIMIT AREAS: kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, master bathroom, and outdoor patio. Applicant was notified any off-limit areas are not to be used as a day care area without prior approval from department.
LPA observed the following: Apartment was clean and orderly. Living room (daycare room) is equipment with plenty of age-appropriate toys, highchairs, ball pit, wood climbing structures, toy storage cubbies, and child size furnishing. Bedroom #2 is equipped with playpens, sleeping cots and a changing table. LPA reminded applicant to clean and disinfect table after diapering children. Applicant will provide sheets for playpens and will wash weekly. Childproof retractable gates are located at kitchen and dining room entrances and in hallway. Bathroom cabinets and hallway closets are equipped with childproof locks. All electrical outlets are properly covered with child proof covers and furniture. Sliding glass door into patio is equipped with a lock and screen door. Living room floor is equipped with foam mats to cushion falls. LPA did not observe any spas, pools, or bodies of water. Per applicant, applicant plans to use outdoor patio once patio is set up for children in care.
Apartment has proper ventilation and lighting throughout. All detergents, cleaning compounds, medications and other items which could pose a danger are stored inaccessible to children behind child safety locked cabinets and/or located in off limit areas. Per applicant, there are no weapons or firearms in the home.
