25 | On 09/15/23 , Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra met with Site Supervisor, Misty Worthy for the purpose of an unannounced annual inspection. Facility Representative was reminded never to exceed the conditions, limitations, and capacity specified on the license. Facility is a preschool program that operates inside the Oakwood Elementary school grounds in portable #38. Facility is a Head start program and operates M-F from 08:05am to 02:05pm. Per facility representative portable #37 (State) is not longer in use and is permanently closed. LPA observed two staff caring for 17 preschool children. Facility meets teacher/child ratio today.
LPA inspected all activity and classroom spaces, restrooms, food service, and outdoor area. Classrooms have age-appropriate toy and reading material. Toxic and hazardous items are inaccessible to children. Furniture and equipment are in good condition. Facility has a fire extinguisher that meets the minimum requirements, operating smoke and a carbon monoxide detector were observed. Restrooms were observed clean and with adequate supplies. Staff uses a separate restroom. There are not children currently that requires medication. Emergency supplies are available and maintained. First Aid Kit is properly maintained and kept inaccessible to children. Outdoor activity space surface was observed free of any dangerous conditions and the playground equipment is in good repair. Synthetic artificial ground covers the playground for cushion. Drinking water was readily available to children both indoors and outdoors. The center provides breakfast,and lunch. Parents donate snacks. Meals are prepared at the cafeteria central kitchen. Menus are posted, updated and available for public view. Fire Drills are conducted monthly and are properly logged. Five children and two staff files were reviewed on this day. All staff present today have current pediatric CPR and First Aid training.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. ---Report continues on subsequent page 809C-- |
