25 | On Friday, March 25, 2022 at 10:40 am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvira Sierra and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Bettina Engelman met with Director, Nancy Cook for a Case Management inspection. The purpose of the inspection was to follow up on a recent report of the lead testing in the facility of the water used for drinking and cooking. Present in the facility were 12 staff supervising 40 children.
Licensing Office notified Director Cook on Monday, March 07, 2022, that a report from the State Water Resources Control Board revealed that facility has multiple water outlets (drinking fountains/kitchen sink faucets) with elevated levels of lead.
Director Cook, reported on March 07, 2022, that facility made all outlets with elevated levels of lead inaccessible to use and water would be turned off to all drinking fountains and the affected sinks until all affected outlets can be replaced or repaired. In addition she stated that facility was not using the classrooms or outdoor drinking fountains, due to COVID. Facility is using bottled water for dinking outdoors and indoors facility is filling pitchers from outlets that are not affected. Director stated she was not aware that she needed to report to Licensing when the water testing was completed.
During today's inspection LPM and LPA verified that the affected water outlets are not in use. Director stated that the affected kitchen faucets are currently in use because they supply water for hand washing and rinsing dishes. The water in affected faucets in the kitchen are not being used for cooking or drinking.
Deficiency cited on subsequent page 809D. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Nancy Cook.
