On 1/18/23, Licensing Program Analyst Carla Polanco (LPA1) and Licensiong program Mangaer Jeanne Smith (LMAP 1) met with Applicant Yaneldis Diaz-Pedroso (A1) for the purpose of a pre-licensing inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entrance into the Family Childcare Home (FCCH). LPA provided the Entrance Checklist to A1. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance verified by LPA1 accessing Guardian. A1’s tentative hours of care are Monday through Sunday, A1 intends to provide overnight care, but no more than 23 hours of care. A1 understands that care cannot be provided for more than 23 hours per day.

A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside of the FCCH. A1 accompanied LPA for the entirety of the tour. The FCCH is a two-story house with a family room, living room, kitchen/dining room, 3 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, and access to the garage. The outdoor play area was toured which includes the backyard which is both cemented and grass and two sheds that are inaccessible to children. LPA verified that the entirety of the backyard is fenced-in and walked the perimeter to ensure the safety of the fence and gate. LPA did not observe any pool, spa nor water feature. A1 understands that 100% supervision is required for children in the front yard as it is not fenced. A1 stated that she does not own any pets. LPA observed chemicals and hazardous materials stored in the outdoor shed with a combination lock. A1 stated that the garage door will remain locked during operational hours. The OFF-limits areas of the FCCH are both sheds in the backyard, garage and entire upstairs. A1 understands that OFF-limits areas must remain inaccessible to children in care.

A functioning smoke detector and a functioning carbon monoxide detector was tested. LPA observed cleaners stored in the kitchen and inaccessible. A fire extinguisher meeting regulations was observed in the kitchen.A1 stated there are no firearms nor weapons in the home.

Completion of Preventative Health and Safety training including nutrition and lead exposure was verified before the inspection. Proof of required immunization's for A1 was also verified before the inspection.
