13 | On Tuesday, May 12,2026, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Elvira Sierra and Stacey Williams met with Director, Lizzet Picos and Licensee, Mamatha Vathpalli to conduct an unannounced complaint inspection for the above complaint allegation. During today’s inspection there were 4 staff and 22 children (7 infants, 15 preschool).
It was alleged that facility does not provide a healthy environment by exposing children to thirdhand smoking LPAs inspected the facility and interviewed staff. Interviews revealed that the AC system was having issues and the classroom was not having proper air filtration. AC system was properly clean over the weekend and the filters were changed. Facility representatives stated that new safety measures were also implemented stating 100% smoke smell free environment. Facility cleaned the carpets, pillows, rugs, blankets and does air quality monitoring. LPA advised enhancing ventilation in the classroom. Also implement ways to reduce smoke residue by deep cleaning, and vacuum more frequently to help eliminate thirdhand smoke (TSH). LPA explained that this is a potential health and safety risk to children in care.
