25 | On 7/17/24, at 9:15 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Amy Turner, Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of Director, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 9;00 AM -12:30 PM on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, the CCC operates 9;00 AM -12:00 PM. The preschool is a Cooperative child care program which requires parents of children in care to serve as volunteers on site and assist with care and supervision. The CCC uses a great room which is divided into two different activity areas as well as an outdoor play area. During the inspection, LPA observed 20 children on site during the inspection along with a teacher (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision. LPA notes the Director is activity participating in the care and supervision of children in care. Additionally, two parents volunteers are observed on site lending assistance.
The classroom has age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children in care. The CCC has carbon monoxide detector in the classroom which was tested at 9:37 AM and found to be operable. The restrooms used by children in care are in safe and sanitary operating condition. LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the classroom of the CCC which contains items consumed by children in care. LPA notes snacks are provided by the parents of children in care. The CCC does not provide lunches as the CCC ceases operations during the lunch hour. LPA observed a snack menu affixed to the wall of the classroom. Likewise, LPA observed required licensing documents and notices affixed to the CCC's wall in the classroom.
CCCs constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. The CCC provided (bottled) drinking water to children in care in the classroom and in the outdoor play area.
