32 | LPA observed a posted menu in the common area along with licensing required notices and documents. The CCC provides filtered water to children and the CCC's water sources have been tested for lead contaminants.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1-CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
The CCC’s outdoor playground area contains varied footing and is enclosed by chain linked and wooden fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secured. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and play equipment in the play area. The toys and play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. LPA observed the play structures in the outdoor area to have adequate cushioning materials in the form of wood chips, to absorb falls. The outdoor area has shade provided by trees and shade sails. LPA observed a shed in the outdoor area which contains CCC supplies. The shed is secure. No bodies of water were observed on site. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers were observed throughout the center.
A sampling of staff and childrens records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information, as well as current immunization records. Staff records were reviewed. At 2:30 PM, LPA notes staff do not have current Mandated Reporter training (AB1207) or CPR/First Aid (EMSA approved) training. The remainder of the staff’s files are current and complete including qualifications and immunization records. Director informed LPA no firearms or ammunition are stored on site.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of “medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records.
