32 | On 3/17/21 at 4:57 pm, LPA interviewed the former administrator who explained that the dining room heater had been broken since January 2021 and in the interim, three (3) space heaters were placed in the dining room and operating from early morning to late evening.
On 3/17/21 at 5:08 pm and on 4/02/21 at 12:00 pm, LPA toured the facility and observed the dining room thermostat at temperatures of 72 F degrees and 74 F degrees. On both occasions, space heaters were operating in the dining room. On 3/18/2021 at 9:20 am, a credible witness (W1) recorded the temperature in the dining room and noted the recordings at 68-70 F degrees.
LPA interviewed residents on 6/04/21 at 12:38 pm, 1:00 pm, and 1:32 pm and on 6/14/21 at 10:03 am. Three (3) of the four (4) residents interviewed stated they did notice a drop in the temperature in the dining room, however, they did not feel the room was uncomfortable. One (1) resident commented in relation to the room’s temperature “you are okay, if you’re sitting close to the space heaters.”
On 7/06/21 at 3:06 pm, LPA interviewed a representative from the heating repair company who confirmed that the heater supporting the dining room was replaced on 4/05/21.
Regulation states that “The facility shall heat rooms that residents occupy to a minimum of 68 degrees F, (20 degrees C).” Based on the information obtained, the allegation that, “Facility is not kept at a comfortable temperature”, is Unsubstantiated.
No deficiencies were noted. An exit interview was conducted with the Administrator and Business Office Manager and a copy of the report was given. |
