25 | On 5/19/25, at 9:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced required three year random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Catherine Mccardle, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The house is a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom single story home. The areas that are accessible for day care children are as follows: converted garage (day care room), one bathroom, and the backyard. The remainder of the home is excluded from childcare services. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed two day care children present.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The bathroom utilized for childcare is clean and free of toxins. The bathroom is near the day care room. LPA observed a child safety lock on the bathroom cabinet. Sharps are located on an elevated kitchen shelf. Personal medication is stored in an elevated kitchen cabinet. No children currently require medication. Cleaning solutions are predominately stored in a locked kitchen cabinet beneath the sink, however, LPA also observed a couple of cleaning solutions in the day care room in an elevated area. LPA observed a First Aid Kit in the day care room for children.
LPA observed age-appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment throughout the day care room. In said room, LPA observed a number of closets, storage compartments, and filing cabinets all of which possess items that relate to the day care home. Importantly to note, living room, kitchen, additional bathroom, and all bedrooms are made inaccessible by a child safety screen. Also important to mention, Licensee informed LPA that the house’s living room, an inaccessible area from the day care, possesses a wood burning fireplace that is enclosed by glass. LPA observed one smaller dog on site. Licensee attested that the dog is up to date on their vaccinations. (CONT. 809-C, Page 2)
