32 | Similar to the carbon monoxide detector, the smoke detector was tested at 11:34 AM and was also found to be operational. The LPA also observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH, which was last serviced on 10/4/24. LPA reminded the Licensee to service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 6/3/24.
As noted before, the backyard is accessible to children in care. The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by wooden fencing. The fence’s entry/exit points are secure. As is the case with the interior of the FCCH, the backyard has age-appropriate play structures, furnishings, and other equipment throughout the area that can afford for robust childcare services. The footing of the exterior is made up of varying surfaces (grass, concrete pavement, wood-chips, etc.). The Licensee was reminded to replace toys and play equipment which start to degrade or are not in good repair. LPA observed a number of chickens in an enclosed coupe. LPA also observed a body of water on site (jacuzzi). The jacuzzi, located in the backyard, is tightly covered and made inaccessible to children in care by a secure lock. The Licensee stated to the LPA that children are always supervised when engaged in backyard activities.
LPA observed two smaller dogs throughout the FCCH. The Licensee informed the LPA that the dogs have occasional interactions with children in care. The Licensee attested that the dog's vaccination records are up to date.
LPA reviewed children's records. The records are current, complete, and possessed emergency contact information and immunization records, among other relevant licensing documents. The Licensee's records were also reviewed. The Licensee’s CPR/First Aid Training (EMSA approved), expiring on 2/8/25, and Mandated Reporter Training, expiring on 4/14/25, is current and complete. Licensee was reminded to renew certifications and training prior to expirations. The Licensee informed LPA that firearms and ammunition are present at the FCCH. Licensee keeps firearms and ammunition in two secure safes located in two bedrooms off-limits to children in care.
The Licensee does not currently provide medication or Incidental Medical Services (IMS) to the current roster of children. IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm.(CONT. 809-C, Page 3)
