32 | Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1CCP). LPAs verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. Last lead test is dated 11/03/2023.
LPAs observed snack menus, required notices, and other relevant licensing documents posted prominently at the entryway of the CCC. LPAs also reviewed the children's sign in and sign out forms via the Bright Wheel application and found the arrival times of children, along with areas for departure times.
LPAs observed a carbon monoxide detector in each classroom. Per the director, the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors were tested by the fire department In the Bumblebee classroom and in the Butterfly classroom and are found to be operational on June 2, 2026. In the kitchen area, which is made inaccessible by a lock, cleaning supplies and sharps were observed in cabinets. Light cleaning supplies are also stored in elevated areas in each of the classrooms. Medication was observed to be in the locked kitchen area in elevated cabinets. LPAs observed appropriate First Aid kits throughout the CCC.
The outdoor playground area is enclosed by metal fencing throughout. The fence’s entry and exit gates are secure and furnishings in the area are age appropriate. The play structure in the outdoor play area has adequate cushioning material (wood chips) to absorb falls. The footing of the area is varied (artificial turf primarily with a sandbox area and wood chips where the main play structure is located). Shade is provided by multiple sun sails and by the modular building itself. Facility representative attested that children are always supervised while outside and that the outdoor area is inspected prior to letting children outside.
A sample of staff and children's records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and were found to contain emergency contact information as well as admission agreements, among other relevant licensing documents and forms. Staff records were reviewed and contained current pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications (EMSA approved) and Mandated Reporter Training certificates among other relevant licensing documents. The last disaster drill on site occurred on 6/02/26. LPAs reminded facility representative that disaster drills are required every six months by the Department. LPAs confirmed that there are no bodies of water, firearms, or ammunition that are on site.
