25 | On 7/26/21, at 11:45 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a Required Inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Maria Betancourt, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home’s living room, kitchen, master bedroom, guestrooms (2), hallway bathroom and backyard are used for child care, while the home’s garage is excluded. At the time of the inspection 4 children are present, one of which is napping.
The home was orderly and the bathroom used for care was clean and free of toxins. LPA observed cleaning compounds in the home's garage, which is excluded from care and inaccessible to children. LPA observed household medications stored on an elevated shelf of a kitchen cabinet which is beyond the children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH are age appropriate.
LPA observed required licensing forms and documents post on the wall near the entry of the FCCH. LPA observed a fireplace in the living room which covered by a metal screen. A combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector is observed in the FCCH. The detector were not tested as one child in the FCCH is napping. LPA did observe a blinking light in the detector which suggested the detector's operational status. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH's which was serviced on 2/4/21. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on the 6/2/21.
The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by wooden fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate. LPA observed a shed in the backyard area which contains yard equipment and tools. The shed was secure LPA observed no bodies of water on at the FCCH.
LPA reviewed a sampling of the children records. All records reviewed are current and complete. A current (CONT. 809-C). |
