25 | On 09/19/24, at 1:00 PM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Elvin Baddley and Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced Annual Random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPAs met with Mary Apodaca, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPAs, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The house is a four bedroom and four bathroom single story dwelling. The home’s playroom (converted garage), bathroom, and backyard are used for child care while the remainder of the FCCH is excluded. At the time of the inspection, five children are present, along with two Assistants (cleared and associated).
LPAs observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The bathroom, which is used for care, is clean and free of toxins. LPAs observed cleaning compounds in a secured cabinet in the bathroom inaccessible to children. Cleaning products are also observed in the entry area in an elevated shelf beyond the reach of children in care. Licensee informed LPAs that their current roster of children don't require medication, however, a First Aid Kit is kept in the entry area in an elevated position inaccessible to children. LPAs observed age appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment in the FCCH.
LPAs observed required licensing forms and documents post on the wall near the entry door of the FCCH. LPAs also observed a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector near the entry of the FCCH. The detector was tested at 1:22 PM and found to be operable. LPAs observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH which was last serviced on 9/4/24. LPAs reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPAs reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 9/5/24. A fireplace is located in an excluded part of the FCCH which is inaccessible to children in care.
The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by chain link fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure. The footing in the backyard area is made up of natural grass, sand and wood chips. (CONT. 809-C, Page 2) |
