25 | On 7/12/21, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Required Inspection of the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Maddy Quaglino Director of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Director toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday. The preschool uses three classrooms (Toddler Room, Preschool Room and TK Room) for care and had a population of 21 children at the time of the inspection with seven teachers providing supervision.
The classrooms of the CCC were clean and organized. The classrooms had age appropriate toys and furnishings available for children. Each classroom had operable carbon monoxide detectors which were tested. The restrooms, two in total, were in safe and sanitary operating condition. The CCC has a refrigerator to store food and beverages. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are stored in elevated cabinets in each classroom which are secure and beyond the reach of children in care. Likewise, the center’s medications are stored on shelves neighboring disinfectants and cleaning solutions.
The center’s outdoor activity areas (courtyard, backyard play grounds) are comprised of a grass lawn, sand play areas and concrete sidewalks. The areas are enclosed by a chain linked fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secured. The LPA observed age appropriate toys/play equipment in the play area. The toys/play equipment are in suitable condition and free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. The play structures in the activity areas have adequate cushioning materials (i.e. pour in place rubber matting) to absorb falls. LPA also observed the areas have an abundance of shade (i.e. tress, shade cover structures). No bodies of water were observed on site. There is available drinking water (gallon jugs) for children both inside the classroom and outside in the play areas. Waste receptacles with tight fitting covers were observed throughout the center.
Children in care bring lunches and snacks from their respective homes. Additionally, each classroom had licensing required noticed posted predominately and LPA observed Sign In/Out sheet at the entry of the CCC which
