25 | On 3/5/25, at 9:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Required 3 Year inspection of the above-mentioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Penny Glass, Site Supervisor of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Site Supervisor, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from the grounds of Cuesta College's Children Center in Room 4021. The CCC operates from 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC is an infant program. At the time of the inspection, 5 children are present, along with three teachers (cleared and associated) proving care and supervision.
The CCC is clean and organized. LPA observed age-appropriate toys and furnishings throughout the CCC. The CCC has cribs along with napping cots for children in care with various levels of mobility. LPA observed a carbon monoxide detector which was tested at 9:16 AM and found to be operable. The CCC has an operable refrigerator. The refrigerator contains the foods consumed by children. The Site Supervisor noted children in care are provided snacks, breakfast, lunches, and formula, while breast milk is provided by parents. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are stored in elevated locations in the classroom. Medication is stored in a secure elevated location in a locked box which is beyond the reach of children in care. Sharps are stored in the kitchen area of the CCC, which is inaccessible to children in care. The CCC provides the children in care filtered water both inside the facility and in the outdoor activity area.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP. |
