32 | LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent disaster drill occurred on 1/9/23. Given the most recent disaster drill is out of date, a Type B Deficiency will be issued to the Licensee. The Licensee will have two weeks (10/22/24 by the close of business day at 5:00 PM) to submit a plan of correction to the LPA.
As noted, the backyard is accessible to children in care. The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by varied fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure. The footing in the backyard area is also made up of varying surfaces (dirt and rock). (CONT. 809-C, Page 2)
Importantly to note, childcare services are only made available to children in one portion of the backyard. This area is enclosed by secured gates. Like the interior of the FCCH, toys, structures, and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. Licensee is reminded to replace toys and play equipment which start to degrade or are not in good repair. LPA informed Licensee to ensure children in care are directly supervised when engaged in outdoor activities. LPA observed one body of water on site and Licensee confirmed to LPA that children do not have access to the pool area.
LPA reviewed children's records. The records are current, complete, and possessed emergency contact information and immunization records, among other relevant licensing documents and forms. The Licensee's records were also viewed. The Licensee’s Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications (EMSA approved) expiring on 11/28/25, is current and complete. On the contrary, the Licensee's Mandated Reporter training certification expired on 9/10/23. Given this expiration, the Licensee will be given an additional Type B Deficiency. The Licensee will have two weeks (10/22/24 by the close of business day at 5:00 PM) to submit their plan of correction to the LPA. Licensee was reminded to renew certifications and training prior to expirations. The Licensee informed LPA that there are firearms and ammunition stored on site. Firearms and ammunition are kept upstairs in the master bedroom in a secured safe, which is inaccessible to children in care.
The Licensee does not currently provide Incidental Medical Services (IMS). IMS policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm.
