25 | On 9/20/21, at 2:00 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted a Required Inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Kelly Parsons, Licensee of the FCCH and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The home’s living room, kitchen, hallway bathroom, guest bedrooms and backyard are used for child care, while the home’s master bedroom is excluded. At the time of the inspection no children are present.
LPA observed required licensing forms and documents post on the wall in FCCH's near the entry. LPA observed a decorative fireplace in the living room which is screened by a glass. LPA observed a smoke and a carbon monoxide detector in the FCCH's hallway. Each detector was tested (3:00 PM and 3:02 PM) and found to be operable. LPA observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH's which was serviced on 5/25/21. LPA reminded the Licensee to either service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the home’s fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 9/2/21.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The bathroom which is used for care is clean and free of toxins. Cleaning compounds in the FCCH are in the FCCH's garage which is inaccessible to children. Likewise, medication and sharps are on elevated shelves in the kitchen cabinet which is beyond the reach of children in care. Toys, furniture and equipment in the FCCH are age appropriate.
The FCCH's backyard is enclosed by wooden and chain link fencing. The fence’s entry/exit gates are secure. The footing in the backyard area is made up of grass and a concrete slab. Toys and play equipment observed in backyard are age appropriate and in satisfactory condition. LPA observed an inactive jacuzzi in the back yard which empty, covered and locked.
