25 | On 1/15/25, at 11:50 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Shane Loftus conducted an unannounced Required 3 - Year inspection of the Child Care Center (CCC). LPA met with Catherine Palmer, Director of Operations (DO) of the CCC. LPA explained the purpose of the inspection. LPA, in the company of the DO, toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The CCC operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The CCC is a combination infant center with a toddler option. LPA observed 29 children on site with eight teachers (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision.
Licensing required documents and notices are posted on the wall of the CCC near the entry. The CCC uses three classrooms (one infant and two toddler) and four infant napping rooms. A fixed book shelving unit serves as a partition between the toddler and infant classroom. LPA observed twenty cribs available for use. CCC also uses cots for older children with levels of varied mobility. Changing tables are observed throughout the site in arm's length of sinks. LPA observed carbon monoxide detectors through the CCC. A carbon monoxide detector in the main infant/toddler room was tested at 12:15 PM and found to be operable. The CCC uses the Bright Wheel application for Sign In/Out. The system contains the arrival and departure times of children in care. Sharps, medications, and cleaning compounds are stored in the kitchen, which is inaccessible to children in care.
LPA observed an operable refrigerator in the CCC's staff room. The refrigerator contains labeled liquids and food for children in care. Children in care bring snacks and lunches from home. Bottled water is provided to children in care and the CCC does not use on site water sources for consumption or the washing of foods.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
