25 | On 12/30/24, at 1:55 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Josefina Vargas, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH is a 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom single-story home. The FCCH utilizes a day care room, one bathroom, and a part of the backyard. The remainder of the home is excluded from childcare services (entry room, kitchen, dining room, guestrooms, 1 additional bathroom, parts of the backyard, garage, etc). At the time of the inspection, 5 children were present. The Licensee's husband and daughter were also present during the visit (all family members are cleared and associated).
LPA observed the FCCH to be orderly and clean. The bathroom, utilized for childcare services, is clean and orderly. Sharps were observed in an elevated kitchen cabinet. Cleaning supplies were observed in the garage which was locked. Personal medication is kept in the master bedroom which is a room excluded from children in care. The Licensee possesses a First Aid Kit for the FCCH.
LPA observed age-appropriate books, toys, and other furnishings throughout the interior of the FCCH (day care room).
LPA observed appropriate licensing forms and documents posted prominently in the day care room of the FCCH. LPA observed smoke and carbon monoxide detectors within the FCCH. At 2:13 PM, a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the day care room was tested and was found to be operational.
LPA also observed a regulation fire extinguisher in the FCCH, which was last purchased on 11/19/24. LPA reminded the Licensee to service or purchase a regulation fire extinguisher annually. LPA reviewed the FCCH's fire/disaster drill log. The most recent fire drill occurred on 12/30/24. Licensee informed LPA that the FCCH conducts disaster drills every three to four months (CONT. 809-C, Page 2).
