On 9/8/21, at 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection of the abovementioned Child Care Center (CCC). The LPA met with Mary Gilbert, Administrator of the CCC and explained the purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of the Administrator toured the interior and exterior of the CCC. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The CCC has an infant program, with toddler option. At the time of the inspection, 29 children are present, along with seven teacher (cleared and associated) providing care and supervision.

The CCC is clean and organized.The CCC has two classrooms (Infant Room and Toddler Room) along with room dedicated to infant napping. The CCC has ventilation and heating to afford for child care. LPA observed age appropriate toys and furnishings throughout the CCC. The CCC has an abundance of cribs and cots for children in care with various levels of mobility. LPA observed changing tables on site within arms reach of sinks. The CCC also has an abundance of portable potties on site.

LPA observed operable carbon monoxide detectors in each classroom. A detector was tested at 9:55 AM and found to be functioning. LPA observed a refrigerator in the infant room which contains labeled children food and formula. Administrator informed LPA parents of children in care provide snacks and lunches. CCC ensures the snacks and lunches provided by parents contain a combination of the essential food groups. LPA observed a menu posted along side other licensing required notices near the entry of the CCC. The CCC provides the children in care with bottled water both inside of the CCC and outside. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions are secure on an elevated shelf in the kitchen cabinet which is inaccessible to children in care. Sharps and medication are located in the CCC's office which is also inaccessible to children in care.

The CCC electronically signs children in and out of the center via the Bright Wheel system. LPA reviewed the

The CCC has two outdoor play areas. LPA observed age appropriate toys/play equipment in the play areas. The toys/play equipment are free of sharp, loose or pointed objects. No bodies of water were observed on site.

The Administrator noted no firearm or ammunition is stored on the premises.

A sampling of staff and children's records were reviewed. The children’s records were complete and found to contain emergency contact information as well as medical assessments. Records also included an electronic log documenting 15 minute sleep checks. LPA reviewed Individual Sleep plans which were completed appropriately. Staff records were reviewed and current with pediatric First Aid/CPR and Mandated Reporter Training certifications, as well as documentation supporting the given staff members qualifications .

LPA discussed COVID 19 guidance and best practices, specifically, guidance related to the face covering of children in care. Administrator was reminded that it is Administrators responsibility to know the regulations for CCC which can be accessed on-line at www.ccld.ca.gov.

In areas evaluated, there were no deficiencies cited at this time.
