25 | On 6/12/25 at 1:50 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Matthew Sapien conducted an unannounced annual random inspection of the abovementioned Family Child Care Home (FCCH). LPA met with Gabrielle Romo, Licensee of the FCCH, and explained the nature and purpose of the inspection. The LPA, in the company of Licensee, toured the interior and exterior of the FCCH. The FCCH utilizes a detached single-story guest house in the rear of the property for day care services. The areas that are utilized for day care children areas are as follows: entry room (sign in and sign out area), open area (main playroom), one bathroom, and a portion of the back yard. Importantly to note, LPA also observed a closet and a kitchen in the guestroom, areas in which the Licensee primarily accesses. At the time of the inspection, LPA observed 4 day care children present, one of whom was an infant.
LPA observed the FCCH to be clean and orderly. The bathroom, utilized for childcare, is clean and free of toxins. LPA observed no potentially hazardous items within the bathroom cabinet. LPA observed sharps, personal medication like vitamins, and cleaning solutions in elevated kitchen cabinets. All areas are out of reach of day care children. No children currently require medication. LPA also observed a First Aid Kit in the residence for the day care.
LPA observed age-appropriate toys, furnishings, and equipment throughout the day care room. In the day care room, LPA observed closets, storage compartments, and cabinets, each of which contain items related to the day care. LPA didn't observe any fireplaces in the room. Licensee informed LPA that they own two dogs, one smaller in size and another larger in size. Licensee attested that the dog's vaccinations are up to date and that the dogs don't have interactions with children in care.
LPA observed relevant licensing forms and documents posted prominently at the entryway of the FCCH. LPA observed a smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the FCCH. The carbon monoxide detector was tested at 2:51 PM and the smoke detector was tested at 2:52 PM and each were found to be operational. (CONT. 809-C, Page 2)
