25 | On January 9, 2023 at approximately 8:15am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Catrina Quimbo conducted an announced, case management inspection at The Carey School. LPA met with director, Meagan Vincent, and explained the purpose of the visit.
Due to an emergency located at facility #414004826, director requested to temporarily operate child care at facility #410517519. Director also requested to increase capacity from 18 preschool children to 38 preschool children. Operations at Facility #414004826 have temporarily ceased due to flooding at facility.
Hours of operation will be from Monday to Friday 7:30am to 6:00pm. The Carey School received a fire clearance 11/17/2022. Per director, new fire inspection will be conducted 01/09/2023.
Present during LPA's visit included 37 preschool children with 7 staff (including director). The facility was inspected, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards and measured to calculate capacity.
Indoors: Preschool program has access to operate out of 4 rooms on The Carey School campus that have been converted to preschool classrooms. The "PK-R" classroom (originally music room) has a total square footage for 802.79 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 22 children. The "PK-K" classroom (originally multi-purpose) has a total square footage of 876.92 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 25 children. The "KG" classroom (originally kindergarten classroom) has a total square footage for 774.62 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 22 children. The Library has a total square footage of 419.53 sq ft. allowing for a capacity of 12 children. Due to the library being ongoing space that is converted into a classroom and library, library is not counted towards overall total square footage. The total allowable capacity equals 2,454.33 sq ft. allowing for a total capacity of 70 children. LPA observed each classroom is equipped with a fire extinguisher, fire sprinkler and smoke alarm system through The Carey School. First Aid kits are available in each classroom. LPA observed electrical outlets in classrooms are made inaccessible by child safety covers. Each classroom is equipped with appropriate furniture and equipment that were observed to be in good working condition. LPA observed a variety of children's toys and equipment that were age appropriate. Poisons, chemicals and other hazardous materials were stored inaccessible in classroom's high shelves.
