25 | On 10/16/2023 at 8:40AM., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Luis J. Gomez met with Director, Laurie Cerefice. Purpose of inspection was explained and was for an Unannounced, Annual Random inspection. Facility is licensed to operate a preschool-age program. Present was the director and 13 staff supervising 97 children. Children present had been properly signed in. Staff presents have criminal record clearances on file. Program utilizes seven classrooms: Lower Building: Pandas (3 year old); Flamingos, (3 year olds); Monkeys (2 year olds); Lamas (3 year olds), Upper Building: Shining Stars (4 year olds); Lady Bugs (4 year olds); and Brown Bears (3- 4 year olds). Facility utilizes three outdoor areas: #1, Main Play Yard; #2, Front Play Yard; and #3, Side Yard. Per director, Side Yard is not currently in use. Days and hours of operation are Monday- Friday 8:00AM- 5:30PM. Per Director, program operates year-around. LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, with director for health and safety hazards.
At 9:00AM., LPA observed the following: Classrooms inspected were clean, orderly, with age-appropriate playthings and materials available for the children. Floor/ground surfaces were free of any obstructions or possible hazards. Classrooms were equipped with hangers and cubbies for storage of children's belongings. Accessible furniture, puzzles, books, and art supplies were free of sharp corners or splinters. Classrooms have child- sized tables and chairs for snack and seated activities. LPA observed children’s bathrooms were maintained clean, with fixtures (8 toilets, 8 sinks) in operating condition. Diaper changing table is available onsite for staff. Per director, area is disinfected after each use. Staff bathroom is located separate. For napping services, stackable cots, made of a cleanable material and stored in facility. Per Director, napping supplies are washed every week by families. Facility has acceptable ventilation and lighting. Electrical outlets and trash bins have been covered installed. Classrooms have smoke/ carbon monoxide combination detector, telephone, and several fully charged fire extinguishers: 2A:10BC. First aid kit reviewed is fully stocked.
At 10:00AM, LPA inspected the outdoor play areas. Area were completely enclosed, with absorbent material around play structure. Playthings and tricycles inspected were in good repair. Per director, sand is reviewed daily by staff for foreign objects. Play structures had properly anchored, and retractable shaded resting area was available for the children.
