The purpose of today's visit was explained and was for an unannounced, annual-random inspection. The facility located at the address above is a licensed preschool program. Present was the director and 12 staff supervising 87 children. The children present had been signed in by their guardian. The days and hours of operation are: Monday- Friday, 8:00AM- 5:30PM. The childcare program utilizes seven classrooms: Lower Building: Panda (3 year old); Flamingo (3 years old); Lama (3 years old); Monkey (2 years old); Upper Building: Lady Bug (4/ 5 year old); Shining Stars (4/5 year old); Brown Bears (3/4 year old) and the 3 shared, outdoor play areas: Sand Yard, Front Yard and Side Yard. At 9:45AM., LPA observed the following: The facility was neat and orderly, with age-appropriate materials available for the children. The classrooms had been divided into separate activity areas including a carpet, reading, and seating areas. The floors, including carpets and other ground surface were clear of obstructions or hazards. The accessible furniture and playthings inspected were in good repair, free of sharp corners or splintered edges. The classroom was equipped with labeled cubbies for storage of children’s belongings, and tables/ chairs scaled to the appropriate size. The classrooms were equipped with large cabinets for storage of teacher supplies and staff items.
For nap/ schedule rest, stackable cots are stored in each room and were labelled. Per director, the nap supplies (blankets) are taken home by families on Friday, to be washed and returned. The bathrooms were maintained clean with liquid soap and paper towels available for hand washing. LPA observed fold-down changing table available for staff as needed.
The facility had ventilation, was well lit, and maintained at a comfortable temperature for children in care. The facility had a functioning telephone service; testable carbon monoxide; and smoke detector (built-into building); and fire extinguisher size, 4A80BC.
LPA advised director to remove expanded water beads from the panda classroom. Item was removed during inspection. Advisory Note: Technical Assistance (LIC9102TV) was issued. (REFER TO 809C, FOR CONT.)
