25 | On September 26th, 2024 at approximately 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Janet Gil conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with director, Eva Tong, and explained the purpose of the inspection.
Ocean Shore Child Care Center Preschool operates at Ocean Shore Elementary School, Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Present during inspection included 8 children with 4 staff members (including director). Facility is operating within capacity requirements and ratios at time of LPA's inspection. Facility operates out of one portable classroom (classroom #1). Facility has two licences. Portable #1 is used by Preschool age children from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Portable #2 is used for school age license.
LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. LPA observed classroom to be clean, equipped with age appropriate toys, materials, and furniture. LPA observed electrical outlets to be made inaccessible with outlet covers. LPA also observed multiple covered trash cans in portable classroom. Storage for children's belongings are located inside Portable #1, labeled with each enrolled child's name on it. Per director, program does not provide a designated nap time due to facility running a half school day care program. Facility does not have enrolled children on IMS Plans on date of inspection.
Facility has an implemented fire alarm system. LPA observed a carbon monoxide detector in portable classroom. Classroom has two fully stocked and accessible first aid kits. One first aide kit is a back pack that is taken outdoors during facility's outdoor play time. Facility has a fully charged fire extinguishers. All poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children on facility's high shelves or locked in the children's bathroom in Portable #2.
LPA observed children's bathrooms to be clean and in proper working condition. Facility provides snack only. Menus are posted available for authorized representatives to review. Water is available to children indoors and outdoors with children's water bottles and/or provided water from a water jug with cups.
