25 | On October 27th, 2022 at approximately at 12pm, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano conducted an unannounced licensee initiated case management inspection in response to decrease of capacity application. Facility is wanting to decrease capacity from 184 to 158 preschool age children.
LPA met with Director, Lisa Becker. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards to ensure the facility was in compliance with Title 22 Regulations for Child Care Centers.
Facility is operating in 11 classrooms: Jellyfish, Sharks, Seals, Seahorse, Starfish, Learning Adventures, Orca Whales, Sea Otters, Sea Turtles, Manta Rays, and Dolphins. Facility measurements exceeds the desired capacity for 158 preschoolers. The total number of sinks are 21 and 17 toilets for the facility. The hours of Operation are Monday-Friday from 7am-6pm. Fire Department approved 158 children and was received by department on September 2nd, 2022 by Redwood City Fire Department. Outdoor Waiver maintains the same and shall not exceed over 80 children at one time.
Facility was observed to be clean with age appropriate toys and equipment. There are cubbies for children's belongings inside of each classroom.. All furnishing and equipment was safe and in good repair. Facility has child size tables and chairs for snack and activities. All accessible garbage cans with tight fitting lids and outlets had been covered. All accessible sinks do not exceed hot water over 120 degrees. Diaper changing will be done by the restroom and has a sink in hands reach. There is a bathroom in all classrooms. Each classroom has a first aid kit inside emergency backpack. Facility is equipped with fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide (CO) detector throughout the building.
LPA will approve the decrease of capacity from 184 to 158 as of today, October 27th, 2022.
No deficiencies were cited today under CCR, Title 22, Div. 12, Chapt. 1.
A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
