25 | On August 9th, 2023 at approximately at 11:40am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Tapia-Mandujano arrived at the facility. LPA conducted an announced case management inspection for a room change from Room #5 to Room #8 without a capacity change. LPA met with Principal, Cristina Haley. Present in the facility are Principal, the facility is currently closed for the Summer. First day of school is August 15th, 2023. Fire clearance is pending.
Facility is located on Parkside Elementary School. Facility is licensed for 24 preschool age children in Room #5. Facility is requesting to do a room change from Room #5 to Room #8. Facility will also like to have preschool enrolled children's be in Rooms #1- #5 with TK and Kinder enrolled children as a group in the morning.
LPA measured Room #8 to measure to be 762.551sqft allowing for 21 children in the classroom. LPA also measured Room #1- #5 3514sqft. allowing for more than 24 preschool children.
LPA inspected Room #8 for health and safety hazard. Classroom is not fully set up. LPA observed that there is a working smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector, and fire extinguishers available in the classroom. Facility will ensure all cleaning solutions, poisons, and other chemicals that are dangerous to the children are stored inaccessible to the children. Room has age appropriate furniture. Furniture is steady and in good repair. Floor appears to be in good repair and free of any hazards. There is one sink in the classroom for children's use. Restroom Waiver to use adult size bathroom's sink will be requested.
Prior to approving room change of Room #8, the pending items must be completed:
*Fire Clearance is required
*Classroom needs to be fully set up
*Restroom Waiver needs to be approved
*Pending Management review of request to commingle preschool enrolled children and elementary school children
No deficiencies were cited today. Exit interview and report was discussed with Principal, Cristina Haley
