25 | On July 1st, 2024, at approximately 12:35 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Janet Gil, and Licensing Program Manager (LPM), Garfield Leung conducted an unannounced annual inspection. LPA met with lead teacher, Karla Monzalvo, and explained the purpose of the inspection. At the time of arrival for the inspection, center director was away for a appointment. Lead teacher is designated with facility responsibility. At approximately 1:00 PM, Director Elizabeth Villagomez arrived at the facility.
Present during LPA's visit included 13 enrolled children (all preschool age) and 5 staff members. Facility is operating within capacity limits and ratios during LPA's visit. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
With director and lead teacher, LPA and LPM inspected day care areas inside and outside for health and safety hazards. Program is located in Grace Lutheran Church and School in three classrooms for preschoolers and kindergarteners only. Facility is a multi-level building. Per lead teacher, facility operates from first floor only, and the second floor has a classroom that is rented out for a separate music program. LPA reminded lead teacher to ensure all accessible stair ways are properly barricaded to the children in care.
All three classrooms are equipped with multiple first aid kits, a working telephone, and working carbon monoxide detectors. Entire facility has a smoke, fire alarm system and fully charged fire extinguisher implemented by Grace Lutheran Church and School. LPA and LPM observed all cleaning solutions, poisons and other chemicals to be made inaccessible in a storage closet located outside next to the children's bathrooms. The storage closet was locked and inaccessible to children in care. Storage cubbies for children's belongings are located inside each classroom, labeled with children's individuals names.
LPA and LPM observed classrooms to have age appropriate toys, furniture, and materials that were clean and in working condition. Program uses two school bathrooms located outside the classrooms. LPA observed bathrooms to be in working condition with appropriate sanitation products.
