On January 23, 2025, at approximately 8:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Zaragoza conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with the director, Kimberly Yoguez and explained the purpose of the visit.

Kids Konnect Preschool is a childcare center. Childcare center is a preschool age program. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm. Present during LPA's visit was the director, 34 preschool age children, and 6 teachers. All teachers have fingerprint/background check on file. Program is operating within capacity limits and ratio during LPA's visit.

Per director, The childcare center is always together but split into different age groups, when teaching curriculum and working on learning activities. The 3 groups are, the 2 year old group, the 3 year old group, and the 4 years old group.

LPA inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Childcare center includes a variety of toys and materials that were in good condition. LPA observed facility to have age-appropriate furniture, equipment, and materials. LPA observed children’s cubbies with their names on it, where children store their belongings. LPA observed cleaning materials to be stored in an off-limit area, inaccessible to children.

Per director, children sleep in sleeping mats. Per directors, mats are sanitized weekly. Per director, parents provide the children sheets and blankets. Parents take sheets and blankets home at the end of the week for washing. For children who don’t nap, per director, they have the option to go to the library and read a book.

The childcare center is equipped with a fully charged fire extinguisher and first aid kit. LPA observed Carbon monoxide detector and smoke detector in the facility. Smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector were tested during visit and were observed to be working. Emergency storage with children's belongings is in the hallway closet. LPA observed children’s cubbies, labeled with children's individual names on it, with extra clothes.

There is one bathroom in the center for the children. Bathroom for children was observed to be clean. Bathroom has 2 toilet, 3 sinks, 1 urinal, and 1 changing table. The sinks and toilet were in working condition. Bathroom was equipped with appropriate sanitation products. LPA observed bathroom to have trash can bins with tight fitted lids. LPA observed children to have individual boxes in the bathroom with extra clothes for each child. LPA observed diapers and wipe for each child to be stored and labeled in bins, with each child’s names. no cleaning solutions, poisons, and other hazardous materials were stored in bathroom. LPA did not observe any accessible poisons or chemicals in classrooms.

Program provides a food service of morning snack, afternoon snack, and lunch. LPA observed kitchen area, where food is prepared. Kitchen area was observed to be clean and well kept. LPA observed food for children to be labeled with expiration dates and well maintained. Kitchen is off limits to children and inaccessible. LPA also observed children’s allergies and food restrictions to be properly posted in the kitchen, for record.

Outdoor area is entirely enclosed and fenced. LPA observed outdoor play area to have shade. LPA observed play structure to have sand flooring. Outdoor materials are stored outside, inside a shed. LPA observed toys and material to be in good conditions. Per director, children’s water bottles are stored in a cart. When children go outside, the water bottle cart is taken outside as well.

Program uses an app, Pro Care, for parents to sign in and out for their sign in/sign out system. Children were properly signed in during LPAs’ visit. LPA observed licensing posters and required documents to be properly posted inside the classroom. Program’s last disaster drills was conducted on October 8, 2024.

LPA reviewed 7 facility staff records. LPA reviewed 6 random children facility records which were complete and had all required documents. Children's records have emergency information on file. All staff on site have a current CPR/First Aid certification and mandated reporter training certification. Staff records also include required immunizations that were made available for review.

Director was reminded all staff hired are required to complete Mandated Reporter Training every two years. The training can be obtained online at www.mandatedreporterca.com.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.

Water quality was tested on 07/28/2022 and results complied.

LPA's discussed the safe sleep regulations with director and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage athttps://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed director of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. Director was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

No deficiencies were cited today.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
