Children sleep on floor mats. LPA observed floor mats to be in good condition. Floor mats are color coded so that the sleeping side is distinguished from the floor side. Children's napping sheets are appropriately stored in children's cubbies, so that they are not touching each other. Per director, sheets are sent home weekly or as needed to be laundered. There are additional sheets on site, if needed.
Program provides a food service that includes snack and lunch. Children are able to bring their own food from home as well. Per director, food that is not eaten at the facility are sent home daily. LPA observed kitchen area to be made inaccessible to children with a child safety gate. LPA did not observe any cleaning solutions to be in kitchen area. Children's food allergy list is posted and made available for review.
Drinking water is made available to children, indoors and outdoors, through children's individual water bottles that can be refilled on site through water fountains or refrigerator filter.
Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care
Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for
drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test.
LPA verified that the lead testing was completed in accordance to the Written Directives outlined in PIN 21-21.1-CCP.
Entire outdoor area is enclosed and fenced. LPA observed outdoor area to be clean, equipped with appropriate outdoor toys and materials. There are play structures in outdoor area that have resilient padding underneath. Flooring in outdoor area was observed to be free of loose debris. Per director, outdoor materials are cleaned daily. There is sufficient shade, if needed. LPA did not observe any pools, spas or bodies of water on site.
LPA reviewed 6 random children's records, which were observed to be complete. Children's files include admission agreements and emergency information. Program conducts emergency disaster drills that are documented and maintained. Last disaster drill was conducted 4/18/2024. LPA reviewed records for staff present. All staff present have a current CPR/First Aid certification. LPA reminded director Mandated Reporter training certification must be renewed every two years by all staff working with children. All staff present have required immunizations available for review.
