Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Marie Rodriguez conducted an unannounced Annual inspection. LPA met with Licensees Zenayda Cuevas-Cendejas and Raul Giles and explained purpose of inspection. Home is a single story house with 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. Present in the home were the Licensees and four infants. Licensees are operating within capacity requirements on this day. All adults living or working in the home have a criminal record clearance on file. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.

Day Care Areas: Living room, dining room, bedroom #3 (nap room), bathroom, and backyard. Off Limit Areas: Kitchen, bedroom #1, bedroom #2, and garage. LPA toured day care areas of home with Licensee Raul Giles. LPA observed home to be clean and in good repair with proper temperature and ventilation. Per Licensee, there are no weapons or firearms in the home. There is a variety of age appropriate toys and equipment in the home which are in good condition. The backyard is fenced for supervision and has outdoor age appropriate toys and equipment which are in good repair. Play structures have sufficient padding underneath. All cleaning supplies, poisons, and other chemicals are stored inaccessible to children. There is a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector, a fully charged fire extinguisher, and a working telephone. Phone number listed for Licensee is current.

Six children's records reviewed were complete. All children have a record of emergency identification information on file. Licensees' records were reviewed and complete. Licensees have current Pediatric First Aid/CPR certificate which expire May 2023. Last emergency drill was conducted in February 2022. Emergency drills are conducted at least once every six months and are properly logged.

No deficiencies cited today under California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual – Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Family Child Care Homes Section 102417. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (US DOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) / (800) 514-0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA, available at: http:://www.ada.gov/childqanda.htm.

To improve the quality and value of the new inspection process, a survey will be sent to the email address provided. Please complete the survey and share your inspection experience. Licensees were reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with Licensees and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed Licensees of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Failure to comply with posting requirements shall result in an immediate civil penalty of $100.
