25 | On September 16, 2021, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Van, conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with Licensee Karen Fretes. The purpose of the inspection was explained and granted entry to the home by the Licensee. At present, there are five children in care with Licensee (3 infants and 2 preschoolers). The licensee rents this apartment unit, which consists of 2 bedrooms, and a bath. Per the Licensee, the home residents are Licensee, her adult brother, her mom, and her adult son, who has just come back from college. Daycare areas are the living room, dining room, and the front patio. Off limit areas are the two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a garage. Hours of operations are Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 5:30 pm. Per Licensees, sick children will be separated from the group and waiting for the parent to pick them up in the living room.
LPA and Licensee inspected the daycare areas for health and safety hazards. During the inspection, LPA observed the following: The daycare area is clean, orderly, and equipped with age-appropriate toys and equipment for the children. The home has adequate lighting and ventilation. The house has a working telephone, smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged fire extinguisher. First aid supplies are available for children. Per Licensee, there are no firearms or weapons in the home. The Licensee states she has a cat, and it has an up-to-date vaccination, and always stays in the bedroom, off-limit area. LPA observed no pools, spas, or other bodies of water on the premises. The Licensee had posted all the required forms (i.e., License, Notification of Parent's Rights, Earthquake preparedness checklist, and Notification of Personal Rights). Per Licensee, fire drills are conducted every month; the last fire drill was conducted on 09/01/2021. continued on next page... |
