25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPA) Mok conducted a Prelicensing inspection with an applicant, Kasturi Basu, today. There were no children present. The applicant applied for a Family Child Care Home License on 3/22/2021. The applicant owns a 2 stories single-family house with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathroom, kitchen, living room, dining room, garage, and backyard. All adults have fingerprint clearance. The applicant lives with her husband and her daughter in the house. The daycare areas are a family room, a bathroom by the garage, and kitchen. The off-limit areas are the entire 2nd level, living room, dining room, utility room next to the garage, garage, and backyard. LPA inspected the facility for health and safety hazards. The applicant had plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, learning material & equipment, and children's furniture available for children. The applicant installed a child-proof gate at the entrance of the family room, and stairway. There was a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher and working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and first aid supplies available in the house. All electrical outlets were covered in the daycare areas. Mat will be available for napping. The lower drawers and cabinets in the kitchen were either lathed or free of harmful objects. The children's bathroom was clean. The lower bathroom cabinet and drawers were free of dangerous items. The applicant had current Poisoning Prevention Training. LPA discussed baby bouncers, baby walkers, exersaucer, Nap Nanny, Napping Portable, and other similar items are not allowed in daycare areas with the applicant. LPA also discussed with the applicant about Immunization for staff during the inspection. LPA also discussed IMS with the applicant. A sample of the IMS was provided to the applicant during the inspection. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. LPA provided a copy of the IMS to the applicant as a sample during the inspection. LPA discussed the new Safe Sleep Regulations. LPA also discussed a child Care Provider’s Guide to Safe Sleep and left a copy of the handout with the applicant during the inspection. The applicant should have the Thermometer, hand sanitizer, & disinfectant available in the house to prevent COVID19. The hand sanitizer and disinfectant must be stored in a higher place to prevent children's access to them.
The following items have to be completed before licensure:
· 8 hours of preventive Health & Safety Training.
- child proof knobs have to be installed to the door between kitchen and dining room, pantry door, and utility door.
- Sharp corner protector has to be installed to the cabinets in the family room.
- Applicant has to mount the metal shelve to the wall in the family room.
- First Aid kit
- Touchless Thermometer.
