25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Andrea Medlin met with facility representative, and later owner, for this required annual licensing visit. Purpose of the visit explained. The child care program operates at the New Life Community Baptist Church. There are 11 infants/toddlers present during the visit.. Teacher-child ratio is in compliance. Days and hours of operation: Monday through Friday 8:00AM-5:30PM. Physical plant toured to inspect for health and safety hazards. There are fully charged fire extinguishers that meet minimum requirements, smoke detectors, and a carbon monoxide (CO) detector in the facility. There are hand washing facilities that are in safe and sanitary operating condition and a changing table. Separate staff bathrooms are available. No pools, spas, hot tubs, fish ponds, or similar bodies of water are present. Per staff, there are no firearms or weapons on site. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children are inaccessible. Variety of age appropriate toys and materials for children are available. Classrooms are set up for child care and furniture and equipment for children is present. Parents provide the breast milk or formula, meals, diapers, and wipes for their child. Napping cots are provided by the facility for the older infants/toddlers and cribs are provided for the young infants. Adequate first aid supplies are available. Sick children will be separated from the group while waiting for parents to pick up. Outdoor play areas inspected for health and safety hazards. The areas around and under climbing equipment is cushioned with artificial grass. Outdoor activity spaces are separated and enclosed by fences and surfaces are free of hazards. There is a sandbox in outdoor area which has a cover when not in use. All the required licensing forms are posted in the lobby: License, Parent's Rights, and Emergency Disaster Plan. LPA reviewed staff and children's files. In the children’s files, each file is complete. In the staff files, each file is complete. Staff have verification of the required staff immunizations: measels (MMR), pertussis (TDap), and flu shot. Staff have verification of the mandated child abuse reporting training as compliant with AB1207.
