25 | On July 31, 2024 at approximately 9:30 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Janet Gil conducted an unannounced, annual inspection. LPA met with director, Bonnie Li, and explained the purpose of the inspection.
Facility is a Combination Licensed Center with a Preschool and Infant license. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Facility operates as a Chinese Immersion program. Present during inspection included 23 children(13 preschoolers and 11 infants) with 6 staff members (including director). Facility is operating within capacity requirements and ratios at time of LPA's inspection. Facility is a two floor building. Preschool Program operates on first floor, and the second floor contains facility kitchen and is a separate after school program.
LPA and director inspected facility, indoors and outdoors, for health and safety hazards. Program operates out of 3 classrooms. Per director, room #3 is designated for napping. LPA observed classrooms to be clean, equipped with age appropriate toys, materials, and furniture. LPA observed electrical outlets to be made inaccessible with outlet covers or implemented child safety locks. LPA also observed covered trash cans in each classroom. Storage for children's belongings are located inside each classroom, labeled with each child's individual names. LPA observed napping classroom to have enough sleeping cots available for all children in care. Per director, parents take home and wash sheets weekly.
LPA observed facility has an installation of a fire alarm system throughout the entire building. Smoke detectors are dual detectors with carbon monoxide. Each classroom has a fully stocked and accessible first aid kit. Facility has multiple fire extinguishers through out the building. All poisons, cleaning solutions and hazardous materials are stored inaccessible to children in locked storage closet and locked under infant classroom's sink.
LPA observed preschool children's bathrooms to be clean and in proper working condition. Per director, children's sinks do not provide hot water. Facility provides all food service for preschool program. Food is prepped in the second floor kitchen and brought down to the 1st floor classrooms for lunch time to all children in care. Water is available to children indoors and outdoors with children's water bottles and/or pitchers.
