25 | On September 01, 2023, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Maria Olguin-Leon met with Licensee, Tania Castro for an unannounced annual inspection. The purpose of the inspection was explained. Present today was Licensee and 2 infants. Licensee is operating within capacity and ratio requirements on this day. Hours of operation are Monday– Friday, 7:00 am - 5:30pm.
LPA and Licensee toured the daycare room home for health and safety hazards. Licensee rents this one-story home. Day Care Areas: Enclosed daycare room and bathroom #1. Off Limits Areas: The rest of the home, which includes; Bedroom ##2 -#3, living Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, backyard and front yard. All off limit areas are properly barricaded. Daycare room is well light and has proper ventilation. Cleaning supplies and other potentially harmful items are stored inaccessible to the children. All electrical outlets are secured with childproof covers. There are plenty of age-appropriate toys, books, child size furnishings, learning material, playpens and sleeping cots. Daycare is equipped with foam flooring to cushion falls. There are no spas, pools, or other bodies of waters. Entire backyard and front yard are fenced with a 5 ft. wood and brick fence.
Home is equipped with a working carbon monoxide detector and a fully charged fire extinguisher. Smoke detector was not functioning, LPA reminded Licensee to replace batteries. Isolation area for ill children will be in daycare room and away from other children. First aid kit is fully stocked with supplies. Licensee uses a cell phone on the premises. Per licensee there are no weapons or firearms in the home. Parents provide sheets for sleeping mats and are washed weekly or when soiled. Technical assistance was issued for sleep logs, LPA reminded Licensee about the importance of document 15 minutes sleeping logs for children under 2 yrs. of age.
